Once, twice, three times a winner..

It has taken the best part of 2 years, but Mary now has the right award. In November 2016, she scored 8 points for daily living and just 4 for mobility. We took that to a tribunal in Southampton in April last year, and the appeal was allowed, but Mary still only had the standard rate of both components.

We challenged the tribunal's decision on a point of law, and the local judge gave us permission to appeal to the Upper Tribunal. The Upper Tribunal also agreed that the local tribunal had got it wrong, in terms of the law, and that decision was set aside, with a direction that Mary's appeal was reheard by a new tribunal, again sitting in Southampton.

I am delighted to report that Mary now has the enhanced rate of both components, with arrears dating back to November 2016. I estimate that these will be in the order of £6,200. Far more important to Mary is that with the enhanced mobility award, she will be able to get the specially adapted car that she needs in order to be able to get around.
